The object of the game is to be the first to reach a score of 3500. Someone would keep score, whoever is keeping score, should write on the score pad what the "Wild Card" is. It would also be good for someone to keep a deck that contains: (Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2) to use for the "Wild Card" You can use these 13 cards from any regular deck of playing cards, so once the "Wild Card" has been called by the dealer. everyone would have a visual of the "Wild Card" and don't have to keep asking what's the "Wild Card". Trust us, this really helps!
All cards are marked on the corners reviling how many points they are worth. Ace's are 50 points, unless mark otherwise, all face cards are 10 points, unless marked otherwise, all the others are 5 points, unless marked otherwise. Wild cards are worth 100, 200 and 300 points. Some cards also have letters on them. If you spell out "Family" or "Friends", you receive an extra 500 bonus points, along with your other points from the cards you used to spell out family or friends.
You make sets (2's, 9's, King's, Ace's, etc...) Sets can be any suit or spreads (2, 3, 4, Ace, King Queen, 10, 9, 8 or Ace, 1, 2, 3, etc.) Spreads must be the same suit, clubs, hearts, diamonds or spreads. Your sets and spreads must consist of at least three cards, you can have more, you need at least 3 cards in order to make a set or spread. "Wild" cards can be whatever you want them to be, to make up your spread or set.
To see who deals first, each player pulls a card from the deck, high card is the dealer. If players pull the same card those players must pull again, it can only be one high card winner to start off the dealing. Dealer rotates clockwise.
The dealer will deal clockwise to the person next to them, the dealer will flip the card upwards, everyone sees the card. Whatever that card is, indicates how many cards that person will receive. If it's a 2, that person will be dealt two more cards, so that person should now have 3 cards, the flipped 2 and the two dealt downward so no ones sees the cards. If it's an Ace, or a Wild card, that person is dealt 25 cards, plus the Ace or Wild card so they will receive 26 cards. All face cards, (King, Queen or Jack) receives 10 cards plus the flipped card they will receive 11 cards. All other cards are whatever the card is.
The dealer goes around the table and deals everyone their cards in that same manner. When the dealer flips their card, they get to flip over any one of their cards to be the "Wild" card. That card is then called the "Wild Card" and can be used to spread with anything. That card is 100 points, regardless of what points it has on it. However, anything over 100 points will remain over 100 and not reduce to 100 points. If the dealer flips a Wild card, the dealer has to call any card to be Wild. If the dealer flips a 10 he will receive 10 cards and plus the one flipped, 11 cards, say he flips the last card and it's a 10, he can say 10's are wild, because he knows he has a 10 or he can say any card from 2 to 9 or King, Queen, Jack or Ace. Say the dealer say's 10's are wild, the dealer then flips the next card and if it's a 10 or whatever the dealer calls to be the wild card, or a wild card, that card and any flipped card next if its the wild card belongs to the dealer. Once the flipped card is not wild the dealer places the card face up next to the deck of cards faced downward and the game starts. The flow of the flipped cards should aways face the dealer. (this helps everyone know who dealt).
Clockwise from the dealer is the person to start the came, that person can pull the flipped card only if they can use it and spread. You cannot pull a card that is flipped unless you can spread with it. If the person cannot use the flipped card to spread, they must pull from the deck. At that time after the person has pulled can now lay down their spreads and sets. It's ok to have doubles in your spreads and sets if you're using two decks of cards. After that person has spread, if they can, If they have nothing to spread, they must throw out a card, face up on facing the dealer. You want to get rid of the highest points in your hand, because if someone goes out you will have to subtract those points left in your hand. However, if everyone has a lot of cards in their hand and you have high points because you want to spread and get the high points, go for it. Just keep in mind you might get caught with those high points and will have to subtract those points.
No player can spread or hit anyone until it's their turn. You can only pull from the deck or the flipped card if you can spread with it. You can not pull hits unless it's included with something you need. If the hit is before the card you need, you can't grab the hit card.
The dealer is the only one that can call the "Wild Card" and they can flip whatever card they want, which would be the wild card for that round only.
If someone spreads with 3 Kings, if you have two kings in your hand you can hit that person with both Kings. If someone spreads with 8, 9, 10 of clubs, you can hit with 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack of clubs. If someone spreads with 4 two's and you have 2 two's you can use both 2's to hit them of any suit. You can use a wild to spread or make a set and to hit. Say you hit with the Jack of clubs and you have a 10 of hearts you can hit anything and make it what you want it to be. So you would put down the 10 of hearts and say this is the Queen of clubs (because 10's in any suit are wild) only for this round because that's what the dealer flipped, and use your King and Ace of clubs to hit or you could make it a spread (Ace King Queen).
Continue to play until someone goes out. The game is over once a player has spread or hit using all their cards, this ends that round. This means everyone holding cards in their hands must now subtract whatever the card points are in their hands and everyone add up their points what they spread and with. The score keeper will write down each players score.
The first person to reach 3500 WINS!
With one deck 2 to 3 players and with two decks together 4 to 5 players. It's more fun playing with two decks.
You can play with partners but it's a lot more fun in my opinion playing individually.
